Xavier Pellicer ganó una merecidísima estrella MICHELIN por Céleri. Y lo hizo transitando un camino poco trillado: la cocina verde. Y dado su enorme nivel como cocinero (ha mandado en las cocinas de Can Fabes y Àbac), triunfó de lo lindo. Céleri es ahora Xavier Pellicer, y está en el Eixample, en un local donde puede expresar aún mejor todo su talento. Ellos trabajan con verduras y hortalizas ecológicas de proximidad, pero no olvidan carnes, pescados o mariscos. A la brasa, al wok… No hay que perderse la Col asada servida fría con cebollitas y rabanitos encurtidos, las Berenjenas confitadas con berros silvestres, los Espárragos con cítricos y hierbas, el Pollo ecológico al estilo criollo con hinojo confitado...


Además de los superhits de la casa (el Gazpacho de remolacha, tomate y cerezas y el humus de lentejas rosa con brotes, flores y semillas son un ‘must’).

    We came at 8 and were the first group in the restaurant and the kitchen was just setting up, but it filled up quickly. Food was very tasty with a big emphasis on vegetarian options, but there were plenty of meat, poultry and fish dishes too. Dishes were creative with many hits and only one miss of the almost 15 dishes we tried as a group. The most popular dishes at our table were cauliflower, taboule, beet gazpacho, all the main courses and chocolate creme catalan. Service was very good although they did forget an order (it was subtracted from the bill). It was one of the better meals we had this week, and I regretted not ordering the tasting menu for just a few euro more than I spent.

    The Maitre’d was initially unaware of my reservation, but the snafu was swiftly resolved with a front row centre view of the open kitchen - a delight for a solo diner treating herself to a birthday lunch. Everyone was attentive & friendly, & the food was beautifully plated and as delicious as always

    Exquisitely prepared vegetables, and beautifully cooked fish and meat dishes as well. The tomato dish with celery sorbet and Bloody Mary was truly next level. Great elevated-casual vibe, too. Service was a bit inattentive, but aside from that it is a truly special place to eat.

    Xavier Pellicer was a disappointing experience as we were looking forward to flavorful vegetable plates designed for sharing. The dishes were underwhelming (we had the artichoke with poached eggs, tabouli, octopus, goat and vegetable tag one). The main dishes were sized as if in a tasting menu and overpriced for their flavor profile and size. In particular the vegetable ravine lacked any sophistication in flavor or preparation of vegetables. The artichoke with poached egg and octopus dishes were the highlight of the menu but the remainder of the dishes were lackluster (and would be at a restaurant that charged 1/3 of the price for the same dish).

    The leeks and the jerusalem artichokes are among the most delicious dishes I have ever tasted anywhere. The rest was excellent too. Servers are knowledgeable and hardworking but seem to have too much to do, so requests take longer to be fulfilled than this NYer liked. Would return in a heartbeat. Wow!
