Don’t miss this!
I think the term “Hidden Gem” applies to this place. While not exactly hidden, it’s a small restaurant located near the Avenida metro station, a little over a kilometer from the touristy downtown area. The food was delicious (Me: braised pork cheeks; Her: Roasted leg of lamb), the ambience was soothing, and the service was extremely good. If you’re looking for something a little more personal (and quiet), I highly recommend this place.
Please enjoy the amazing hospitality and highest quality cooking with the Chef. We were humbled that he opened the restaurant on his day off just to honor our reservation. An exquisite meal that featured. Douro wine paired with wine braised mushrooms, squid fritters, braised pork cheeks and prawns with tagliatelle wars our reward of choosing this restaurant. Please visit the gem if you are in central Lisbon - or for that matter anywhere in Lisbon! It’s a quite place great for a quiet conversation and wine and food.
NOT the restaurants fault, but be aware of the streets numbering system ! Look out for the restaurant name. A very enjoyable visit.
Extreme good food, bad air fully damped.
I read great reviews online and decided to book this resturant from my girlfriends birthday. We turned up at 7.30/8 and were the only people in the resturant! Waiter was friendly and food was to a good standard, however was expecting more considering the outstanding reviews online.
My husband and I had dinner on our first night in Lisbon. We visited this restaurant after reading other reviews and we weren’t disappointed, the pork cheeks and the octopus were delicious. Service was very good. Would definitely eat there again if in Lisbon.
Outstanding food, presentation, and service. My wife and I recently spent 9 days in Lisbon and environs and had some really good meals. However, Taberna d'Algeria was the best. We ate here twice, coming back a second day and varying what we ate. The menu has traditional Portuguese fare, but with interesting variations from the chef. Not a single course, starter, main, or dessert, was at all disappointing. They were all delicious. The octopus dish, for example, will change your idea of what can be done with octopus. (And the pudding dessert was subtly flavoured but its flavours lingered in your mouth for hours later.) It's also only a short walk from the Avenida Metro off the Avenue Liberdade.
Great small restaurant. Andre was our server & he was fantastic!
Good food, excellent Tuna. Fair prices. But poor organized Service,We waited 30 min. for the starter, the main course was served during we were having the starter. And we have not had the last piece of the main course when they asked for the desert.
Not as great as painted on Tripadvisor. Good food, well presented but no wow factor either in ingredients or flavours.
Good, but not great. Very reasonably priced, with an inexpensive wine list. Small resto with only a few seats, pleasant service and good food.
Food was ok - service slow. Not as good as other restaurants we have visited.
Fabulous food and service. The waiter was the best incredibly efficient with a great sense of humor! The best meal so far in Portugal! Only one waiter and he handled each table better than other restaurants with more wait staff!! He was amazing! As was the food! The wine he suggested was absolutely delicious! What a amazing find!
The best pork chucks of the world!
Very nice place, good dishes, big portions, nice prices, really kind waiter.
Beste Küche in Lissabon!
Delightful small place with great food - hand crafted and delicious. The pork cheeks were delicious.
On a quiet night, we were able to experience the most popular dishes of the restaurant (bochechas and polvo) and be very happy with our choices. Everything was simple but effective and we will surely come back and recommend. Our congratulations to the team!
Good Portuguese food. Good service.
