We visited this great restaurant regularly but this was out last visit because to our big surprise there was a 'new' menu, which meant that they increased the prices big time. A great vegetable side-dish went from e6,50 to 14,50 [!] and our regular main dishes were at least increased by 4 euros or more. Still great food but by this move completely overpriced.

The waiter had an attitude, the food was ok but nothing special and the wine was overpriced. We still had a good evening because we enjoy our own company.

It is very overpriced for what you get. Food is OK but not that special, you can get it at any other Chinese restaurant. We ordered dumplings and 2 duck pancakes as a starter, asked the waiter whether the dumpings were home made. The answer was yes, however when they arrived, the shape and the taste of them very much resembled those we buy at Sligro. 2 little duck pancakes cost 13 euro!! There are other places where you get a portion of 3 for half this price and they will taste just as good. For two starters, two main courses, a bottle of Savignon and a bottle of water we paid 100 euro. Way to much.

Fantastic food. We had the Peking Duck which was just perfect. Purely for entertainment value alone, try the Irish Coffees.

We were recommended to Sichuan by friends and corroborated by good reviews in Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. Due to the holiday week and terrible weather the restaurant was not busy. Even taking this into account the service was polite and correct. We ordered the Royal menu and the Peking Duck menu. Both were excellent. All in all one of the best chinese restaurants in Amsterdam

About the restaurant

Winning cooking method

The music in the background and the interior fit it perfectly with the Chinese kitchen. Sichuan, one of the four ways of Chinese cooking, is the cooking style here and it can be spicy. The Peking duck is the absolute favorite and if you want to go all out choose The Imperial Menu or Royal Menu. They are the first Chinese restaurant to get awarded with a Michelinstar in Europe.
