This restaurant is simply amazing. Don't worry about the entrance, at the first point of view you could think to be in the wrong place, but when you go upstairs you immediately realize to be in the right place, in the middle of the Ethiopian culture. Staff and Food were both amazing.
This is the best Ethiopian food I had in a long time! It’s maybe not the best location or the best looking restaurant, but the food is the main reason to go here. I am definitely coming back.
Gluten free injera available! We had a platter of 4 dishes to share and it was beautiful food. The quality was great and the service was helpful and very friendly. I can only recommend this place.
nice staff and cool location but i found the food bland, lacking the adventurous spices i am used to with etheopian food. plus there was a super loud birthday of 35 people next to us which became impossible to enjoy our time there and hear my friend anymore. the party should have been moved to their own party room.
Super, je voel dat je in Eritrea of Ethiopia bent!!
Great food, friendly attentive service in a nice ambience. Overall good value - a real gem in a surprising place. Will definitely come again
The inside looks much better than the outside - you just don't expect a nice restaurant in this building! Once you are first floor, you'll find a nicely equipped large room, and a very friendly owner, and a menu with rather small prices. Everything is delicious, you can have vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. Beware - no forks and knives. Rather they serve enjera, which you use instead. Absolutely recommendable!
First time African food for me. Expectations were low, but WOW. This meal completely blew me away. The Injerra had a sour, but fresh citrusy taste to it. And we ordered the “wedding chicken” which was a little bit spicy and packed full with flavour. The combination with the injerra gave the dish a complete and balanced flavour. Would also recommend to try the Ethiopian coffee. Strong flavour and a perfect finish to the meal. Service was super friendly too! Located on what seems to be a small industrial strip. Just walk inside and let the smells and ambiance to you to Africa. 10/10 for me!
Excellent food in a very informal setting
Aardige bediening, eten matig, desert onvoldoende, vies toilet.
Another little food gem in the North! Great food, friendly people, can recommend this place!
Super eten en aardige bediening
Great vegetarian options, super nice staff.
First time with this type of food. Isnt to our taste but was good to try something new. Do not regret trying it.
A totally wonderful experience. The staff was very friendly and alert, the food was brilliant, the ambiance colourful, the price more than right. We will definitely come back! Thank you everyone at Semai! We are proud and glad to have you in Amsterdam-Noord.
