En Consolat del Mar, muy cerca de la playa de la Barceloneta, encontramos este restaurante sui generis que a priori nos sorprende por su ubicación: un local consagrado en exclusiva al cerdo en un barrio que ha sido tradicionalmente la cuna de la cocina marinera en Barcelona. Pero las reglas están para romperlas, y más si quienes deciden darle la vuelta al mapa gastronómico son dos personas que las conocen muy bien. Nada menos que Iñaki López de Viñaspre, alma mater del Grupo Sagardi, y Oriol Rovira, cocinero de Els Casals (Estrella MICHELIN 2007), artífice de los embutidos de Cal Rovira y uno de los máximos exponentes en la ciudad de la cocina de proximidad basada en la ganadería local.

Si en Sagàs (su restaurante de bocadillos gourmet), Rovira ya nos mostraba su amor por las carnes locales, en este restaurante el homenajeado es en exclusiva el cerdo: desde el morro al rabo, curado, en salazón, al horno de leña, seco, embutido, prensado, especiado o rustido. Cerdos que proceden de la explotación familiar de la familia Rovira en el Berguedà o la dehesa de Extremadura, pasando por Baleares, León, La Rioja, Lombardía o el condado de Bigorra en el sudoeste francés.

    The service was fantastic and outdoor eating area was pleasant. The food was average, the pork belly did not have crackling, the shoulder was dry, the pulled pork rolls were good as the had some sauce, the vegetables were not appetising and over cooked

    Food is good although very expensive with respect to what you get. The restaurant is cosy and well decored. What quite disappoiting is how food is served. Drinks, starters and main course are all served at the same time and fast. As if they wish you ate quick and go.

    Seriously this place serves the BEST PORK that I’ve ever had. Friendly welcoming waitstaff. Food was absolutely delicious ???? and the side dishes perfectly complimented the pork. Nice wine Selection served at the right temperature . We enjoyed our meals so much that we ate here twice ????????

    We had an amazing meal; great atmosphere, super friendly staff and delicious pork! The fact that you can choose the part of the pork and the amount adds extra points (however, we ordered way too much because it looked so delicious :) ). We recommend it for sure and would definately come back in a next visit to barcelona!
