Excellent food all round, from our starter, very tasty well presented carpaccio to our main course Burger, which was to die for, possibly one of the best burgers either of us have ever eaten, very very good indeed ... We will definitely be back again to this great cafe bar restaurant ...

Lovely, welcoming staff. Good atmosphere - homely vibe. Food was nice, especially considering the more than reasonable prices. We’ll definitely be back to Plan West!

Good addition to the neighborhood. I was here last year when they were called Bar Evert-Jan and I liked it then, but when I went here with a friend this week I had an even better experience. We came via the AH restaurantactie so we both had 3 course meals (carpaccio, burger, goat cheese burger, fries, brownies) and everything was delicious. The atmosphere is chill and intimate, so good for coming with friends or on a date, and the service was fine.

Nice atmosphere, extensive drinks list and interesting food. The two guys managed 30+ people seamlessly while providing great service, something that you don't always see in Amsterdam. The food ranges from burgers/meat/cod to a reinvention of dutch traditional dishes in a modern way and of course, dutch snacks. These guys have passion and an idea that works just fine and is worth a try. Give them a chance and you won't be disappointed

All in all, we had a pleasant yet not overwhelming evening at Bar Evert-Jan. Pro's: - Restaurant took part in the 50% off festival - It was no problem to make a last-minute reservation (45 minutes prior to arrival) - Nice atmosphere with a young but not too trendy/hip crowd - Most dishes were nicely presented - The wines we had were good, the port was solid - The Royal Burger was very good and tasty Con's: - The service was slow and not very efficient (only one poor guy was serving the whole restaurant) - We arrived at 8 pm on a Saturday evening but were told that they were already out of some menu items (as the menu was quite limited this made for an even more limited choice) - The menu itself seemed inconsistent with a little bit of everything; we got no understanding of what idea their kitchen was following - The scallops starter was flavourful, but having only two scallops on the board was a little bit disappointing - The bread starter was disappointing as well (only one sort of not particularly good bread, bland dips) - The steak was okay, but it would have been better had it come without the slight 'freezer taste' - The cheese plate had a decent size but lacked in variety - About one hour after our arrival the area in front of the bar filled up with a group of people; visiting the restroom or following the waiter to pay by card at the bar required quite some elbow action to get through the crowd (to be fair, Evert-Jan goes as a bar as well, but I don't appreciate starting an evening in a cozy restaurant and ending it in the atmosphere of an over-crowded pub) To sum it up, I wouldn't rule out to visit this place again, but it's not a new entry on my list of must-go places in town.

Good neighborhood with a hip-ish decor. Nothing fancy, but it doesn't have to be! I have had friendly, competent service every time I've been here.

Very nice environment, nice music and crew. Not sure why it was kinda empty at the time of the day I went (6h30), for dinner. Should be discovered by other customers.
