El nombre es inequívoco. Y la decoración, clásica y un punto rústica, también. Ese mural con un pelotari en plena acción es definitivo. En cuanto cruzas la puerta de este restaurante sabes que estás en un asador vasco de toda la vida que te va a servir cocina vasco-navarra de siempre, con un muy buen producto de temporada y sin demasiada intervención de los cocineros. Pocas filigranas y mucho sabor. La materia prima (carnes rojas de vacuno y de buey, pescados de las mejores lonjas españolas, verduras y hortalizas de Tudela, legumbres de los campos de Castilla...) se transforman en platos de gran calidad. Cuánto mérito tiene la sencillez bien entendida. Lo fácil siempre es lo más difícil.

Más allá de la propuesta gastronómica merece la pena destacar el servicio de sala, de lo más profesional, y la carta de vinos, con 250 referencias de todo el mundo que cambia cada medio año y a la que se añaden semanalmente dos vinos de zonas emergentes y, cada mes, uno de prestigio con gran relación calidad-precio. Para después del ágape, destilados premium (rones añejos, whiskies de malta de pequeñas destilerías, ginebras innovadoras...) y una cava de habanos que hace las delicias de los fumadores.

    The food was really good. However the portions were not too big. The waitresses were lovely. However the waiter that was taking the order was not welcoming. Overall was OK but not a place I would come back.

    Luckily there’s still a few traditional Basque restaurants in Madrid, and this is among the best. Great food, fresh, well made at a good price / quality relationship.

    This is a place that delivers quality and value without being pretentious. Food and customer satisfaction is their business and they do precisely that. However, It wouldn’t hurt to have a maître d'hôtel to elevate the experience a notch. Just food for thought.

    The food was as good as it can be, but the service was not as good as usual, they made is wait for 30 minutes before asking what we wanted and they didn’t offer out of menu selections, which they did to other tables that arrived after us

    Really good food, borderline correct service (normally very good), ok atmosphere. All in all, one of my favorite traditional places.
