Una de las grandes apuestas gastronómicas de Madrid tiene su refrendo en la cocina sabia de Joaquín Felipe. El Pabellón es el restaurante gastronómico, con un comedor sofisticado y luminoso, de este complejo de disfrute del Retiro. En él, este cocinero madrileño no se anda con tonterías: rescata recetas tradicionales a las que pone guapas y modernas con algún añadido. Unas algas marinas en la merluza de pincho asada o un guiso thai de manzanas a curry en el bacalao. Son puestas al día vistosas de platos de toda la vida.

Felipe ya puede presumir de haber dado con platos de los que se quedan en la memoria gustativa del cliente. Un ejemplo son las sardinas marinadas con cítricos y aguacate sobre gazpacho verde, entre los más demandados. También son hits los mar y montaña del menú: sorprendente el tiradito de caballa con pico de gallo y torreznos. En las carnes, mandan las razas nobles, como en el caso del carpaccio, hecho a base de picaña wagyu, o el solomillo de raza simmental al horno josper. Ah, y la pasta no está de convidada de piedra: tanto los ravioli como los ñoquis son caseros. El gran espectáculo de la buena cocina de toda la vida, en versión siglo XXI.

INSIDER tip

Pasarse a la sala del Florida Retiro después de cenar para tomarse una copita no solo es recomendable, es indispensable. ¡Viva el cabaret!

    PERFECT!!! everything from the service to the food! It was my birthday, we arrived at 8pm (rather early for Madrid dinner) and they gave us a wonderful table, we took our 3 year old with us, they were very nice with him, prepared a special dish off the menu for him. We had the green gaspacho and the hummus as starters, they gave us a goat's cheese with honey and nuts on the house. As mains we had salmon, tuna, merluza with curry and apple and pork on the bone! the best? the pork and the merluza. they prepared grilled merluza with fries for my son he LOVED it!! we took a cake so I can't recommend any desert! will definitely return!

    I live in the neighborhood and have wanted to try this place for nearly a year and was generally very disappointed. We all shared a starter of hummus and some kind of bread. The hummus was underflavoured and its consistency was far too liquid. I had the scallops with noodles wrapped in panceta.The scallops were well cooked , the noodles were overcooked and the panceta was far too strong and buried the taste of the scallops. One friend had a steak, he said it was perfectly cooked and excellent. The other dinner had red mullet, adequate but nothing special. A shared dessert of a mix of chocolate was a disaster, dressed with olive oil , which clashed completely with the cocoa . The service was very hit and miss. When I arrived I was asked 5 times if I wanted a drink but then through lunch we struggled to get the waiter´s attention (the place was n´t busy) and not once during the whole lunch did anyone ask how the food was. It´s expensive and not worth the money. 4/10
