Want to have an extraordinary lunch in Amsterdam? Enjoy a Period Room Lunch in one of the beautiful, 17th-century period rooms at the Museum of Bags and Purses. A wonderful 2-course lunch beginning with a savoury trio: a cup of soup, a small veal sausage roll and a mini goat’s milk cheese quiche. This is followed by a tiered stand full of deluxe sandwich fillings and salads, accompanied by a choice of special buns, tapenades and butter.
This is a excellent place for ladies to pamper and surround themselves in historic luxury. The service is attent, quick, and friendly. The etalagiere of savory & sweets are beautifully displayed. The 2 kinds of teas delicious (albeit limited), The scones, clotted cream & jams are not overly sweet. Sandwiches could use a bit more love and filling. But the best part is the interior, and if you have a table overlooking the water, the view. A perfect Dutch experience that satisfies the visual and culinary appetite.
The whole experience was amazing! The wait staff was kind and courteous! The food was amazing and the presentation of the food was beautiful! I would definitely go again!
We really enjoyed our afternoon tea. The quality of the food was excellent and the setting was lovely. There were 3 in our party and a round table would have been more conducive to conversation. The description of the tea on the website differed from what we were served. This was not a problem but customers should perhaps be made aware when booking that the menu could change.
Thank you for a beautiful afternoon tea in gorgeous surroundings. Much appreciate are request to sit by the window, it was so relaxing watching the boats on the canal. Would definitely recommend a visit for anyone in Amsterdam!
Dry sandwiches - meat or cheese (half of us do not eat meat), scones hard and dry, we were not asked what tea we wanted but what we got was very weak. We then asked for strong tea but it was still weak. Everything for four of us piled onto one stand - not very appetising when it's all piled up. Two stands would have been much nicer. More like your photos. Wonderful, fascinating museum; shame about the 'High Tea'. Would not recommend it.
Had a lovely time! The food was delicious and the room was beauitful, but I wish there was a larger tea selection which we could choose from.
Classic High-Tea with family and friends was a perfect way to spend a few hours on a Sunday morning. Food, service and atmosphere was very pleasant; I would recommend this experience.
Our whole experience was excellent, the food was perfect and the staff were very attentive and well informed. I would recommend this experience.
Unique experience in Amsterdam worth a few hours of your time. Lovely restaurant, awesome exhibition. Highly recommended.
We used a coupon from the NS Spoor magazine. This was a chance to try something new and it was a nice day & High Tea with my daughter.
Smaller sandwiches with more variety shlould be better (difficult to find Something to eat when you Don't like cheese). To many sugars food not enough salty
Had a great table next to the window, prompt service and great food that is smartly displayed. I booked the table online but it wasn't clear what the different afternoon teas are (classic, Hendrikje etc) or the prices, so having that explained on the website or as you are taken to your table would be helpful.
Was a very nice location and setting for a high tea with my pregnant sister in law. Service was good, outlook on the canals. The savoury could have been a bit better I think but the sweet was nice.
We komen weer erug voor de high tea
The tea room is very nice and cozy. The service was disappointing... we had to wait for 10 min before being seated (we made a reservation and the room was half-full), the lady didn't great us, felt like we were distracting her from doing other things. Pieces could have been bigger for the price you pay.
Top service ????
This was a special meal with friends in a lovely room. We had the classic high tea which was delicious, beautifully served, and relaxing.
My husband and I booked the High Tea Classic for our wedding anniversary. The tea room is absolutely beautiful and the service was top notch! One of the girls even got us a little present from the museum because I mentioned that it was our anniversary, now that's customer service! The Classic came in two course and 3 teas, but the price was a bit higher than the regular high tea set with not much more food. It'd be a little pricey without the museumjaarkaart. The overall experience is fantastic, and I would highly recommend going with a group as you can have the smaller tea room all to yourselves.
Lovely experience with friends from abroad. Food and tea was very nice but service was terribly slow. Price is a bit high but overall experience was lovely.
The Museum restaurant is open every day from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Herengracht 573, 1017 CD, Amsterdam, Netherlands
The Museum of Bags and Purses is located in a real House: a former mayor’s residence dating from the 17th century and which is now part of a UNESCO world heritage site known as the Amsterdam Canal Ring Area.
On the museum’s entrance level are two splendid period rooms with historic ceiling paintings created in the 17th and 18th centuries. Here, you can enjoy a festive High Tea or special lunch on reservation with a view of the enchanting Herengracht.
