Very expensive, lots of tourists but descent food
Soy Inglesa It was a superb evening. The staff and service were excellent and very professional . The food was fabulous . The presentation and the flavours were imaginary and delicious. The decor of the room and the china etc. All helped to make it a perfect experience. The gravad lax and the special sorbet were marvellous. I wish that I lived in Madrid and could return to celebrate all my special dates of birthdays etc. Muchas gracias .
El restaurante lo conozco hace mucho tiempo y suelo ir con frecuencia, porque la comida es muy buena y el lugar precioso. El servicio de reservas que es la primera vez que lo utilizo me ha parecido estupendo.
A good friend inspired is to visit Lhardy, essentially for its elegant nineteenth century ambience. That it has in buckets with white cloths, period furniture, and waiters in formal dress. However, the food was a little disappointing, apart from my Octopus Brandade which was very tasty. It is also quite expensive which might explain why on a Saturday evening, we were one of only three couples there, i.e. from 8.30pm to 10.30pm, and that made the atmosphere somewhat sombre.
So profoundly historical, so stunning the room, so amazing the legacy...but the service is living off the fumes of it all. So sad that the human element can undermine the most incredible of first impressions. I love Lhardy and will return to honor its legacy but not the disrespect its servers disserve it.
Living on the past - food very poor
A Madrid institution especially their chick pea stew. Central location worth a visit
