We had a wonderful evening at Le Vivarais. We sat outside enjoying the warm evening. The chef came to the table to greet us and our server tried hard to help us translate French to English. The menu had many tempting choices and we savored everything we ordered. We will share this find with our friends and hope they will enjoy it as much as we did when they visit Lyon.
Food was not great for a gastronomic center like Lyon
The food was excellent - duck, foie gras and trout. Nice wine selection. Overall very good price for the quality of the meal.
We had a wonderful evening. The service was attentive. The pate en croute and the suckling pig were divine. The chef came to greet us and later on displayed the stuffed sucking pig, his signature dish. We sat outside enjoying the summer night and the tasty food. We highly recommend.

Really well cooked tasty traditional food. Good quality produce and very well kept cheese. Classic desserts. Friendly staff worked hard to make an enjoyable evening. Small, well chosen and well priced wine list.
It was my fourth time in this restaurant, and it confirmed it's great quality. The prices are relatively low, which is very positive.. Only a negative point: there was only one waiter, who, in compensation, was extremely kind and smiling. Very nice person. I will return there!
Honestly, the food was very good. We were a group of 5 friends and made a reservation 2 weeks ago for us. The waiter was very snippy with us and we were seated in a room which was really separate from the main dining room. It appears that this is the design of the restaurant: one room for couples, and one room for larger parties. As a result, we were the only group in this room for the whole evening. We ended up with 2 other waitresses other than the main snippy waiter. We assume he was giving us attitude because we were from the US. I mean to say, he spoke English very well and 2 members of our group spoke French, so we thought maybe he would appreciate us a little (knowing that maybe being from the US might be a downer for him). One member asked about the fish dish du jour and he just gave attitude and said he couldn’t really say it in English (and gave tons of attitude about it). After this, we never saw him until the bill came. The food was quite good, and we are lucky for that. I would not recommend...

Food is superb! The food did come out a bit slow but the servers were so pleasant, we didn't mind.
