Our Parisian friends recommended this restaurant and we were not disappointed at all. They have a seasonal menu, and the summer menu is now out. The manager helped us in English and made fabulous suggestions with both food and accompanying wine. We loved each course - from the flashed grilled langoustines to sea bass and lamb. We finished with a cheese plate and then some dessert wine. We'd go back here in a flash!

I used to live in Butte aux Cailles several years ago and this was my go to spot. Even after coming back to Paris to visit , I ALWAYS make an effort to come back here for dinner. A lot has changed in the last 15 years, but one thing is constant: the food, ambiance and service are always very good. There was a new chef and a new menu on my visit and it didn’t disappoint. Must haves: if it’s on the menu, get the veal medium rare, grab a bottle of Cote du Rhône and just enjoy yourself. They also had a chocolate dessert with coffee mousse that I hope never leaves the menu. Our dinner party is still talking about it and when we can come back to Paris to have it again Prices are reasonable for the quality of food that you will have. Merci beaucoup, L’Avant Gout....on sont voir en Juin!!

Good food, not special. 2 people, no starters, 3 glasses of wine (total) for 100eur.

There was a booking problem so we had to wait for a table - which was fine - however the staff seemed rushed off their feet and there was a lack of options as everything seemed to have gone already - the waitress was kind and we felt it wasn’t her fault but it was rather underwhelming and our starters seemed frozen - we didn’t want to make life more difficult for her so we just drank the wine and tried to enjoy our evening

Excellent food! Very refined and tasteful. Service was very polite and cordial but was completely disorganized and seemed overwhelmed which resulted in long waits.

Excellent restaurant in the 13th arrondissement. One of the best dinning experiences I had in Paris. Great food -beautifully served, diverse menu, very good wine, cozy atmosphere and friendly service. Highly recommended.

This is a charming neighborhood place with great food and friendly service. Also a good value at 38 euro for the prefix. I would recommend it.

Wonderful food - unique and tasty flavors in a beautiful presentation. The restaurant was pleasant but did not have lots of energy.

This was the best meal we had in Paris and, with the Fork discount, astonishingly low in cost. We both had beef filet which was cooked exactly as ordered: rare but not raw. And it was served with delicious little chanterelles and thin, tender green beans, and excellent béarnaise. The dessert, described as "very bitter" chocolate cake served with bourbon vanilla ice-cream and salted caramel sauce was delicious, though perhaps a little skimpy on the sauce. The service was also the best we had in a Paris restaurant--helpful, prompt, but never intrusive. Three courses and a bottle of quite good wine only cost 116 Euros, with the Fork discount, or about $60 each--you couldn't begin to eat this well for this little in the Boston area where we live. And we very much appreciated the air-conditioning, which is uncommon in other Paris restaurants in the 13th arrondissement.
