Fantastic food! Great service, with actual flexibility which is unusual in this part of the world. I had 1/2 Caesar salad and 1/2 goat cheese ravioli. Totally creative and delicious takes on both, one of the best lunches I’ve had in a long time, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

The restaurant was close to our hotel and after a day of sightseeing that was a plus. The staff was so friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. Great find!

This restaurant is definitely one of the best choices of dinner in Amsterdam, especially if you're close to the Central Station of Amsterdam. The modernized Dutch style cuisine was perfect, the presentation of the dishes were clear and humorous, and the price was unbelievably reasonable as well. When we found this restaurant, we were little bit tired of changeable weather of Amsterdam, and soon became vigorous because of the warm atmosphere of the place and excellent food. I recommend you to find same good feeling at this place :)

Would recommend it, very good food (especially the coconut Thai soup), and friendly and professional service. Just make sure to reserve a table!

This has been the third time we have dined at Grand Cafe 1884 during stop-overs in Amsterdam. Each time has been a wonderful experience. The staff is friendly, welcoming and attentive. We have tried the tasting menu each time and have been rewarded with chef's creative blending of flavors and foods. We find that we are looking for ways to make that stopover just to return to Grand Cafe. Thank you to the Chef and Staff for a wonderful experience!

We can definitely recommend this restaurant. The service and food were exceptionally good. Everything the waiter recommended lived up to our expectations. We will come back next time we visit Amsterdam.

My husband and I stopped in Amsterdam on our way to Jo'burgh in part to eat at this restaurant again and will stop again on our return to do the same. The tasting menu is wonderful. The chef is a master at melding foods and flavors into amazing dishes, and the staff makes you feel like a favored guest.

We went to Grand Cafe after a cruise and at the recommendation of the Movenpick concierge. We were delighted. The cafe was just that...a corner cafe with charm, a view and excellent food. We were nicely walked through the menu by the waiter. Added a bottle of wine that was reasonably priced. The presentation was amazing as pictured by the many photos submitted. We both opted for the tomato soup and it was superb and a very large bowl of soup. The veal entrecôte (seasonal meal) was also delicious. Cooked to perfection and presented with the accompaniments in an exquisite long bone. Cauliflower purée was a notable addition. We were way to full for dessert-maybe next time. Kudos to this fantastic chef.

Our second time at this great restaurant - friendly & professional service and so welcoming. The tasting menu is an astronomical delight & such good value. It’s away from the crowds not far from the train station with views of the river. It’s a must! We’ll be back!

Excellent business lunch venue. Fine dining presentation and service for a brasserie price. Pleasant terrace overlooking the harbour, albeit on a busy intersection.

Had a terrific dinner at Grand Cafe 1884. The tasting menu was great. It keeps changing, but this one started with half a medium sized lobster with lots of different sauces. Second course was smoked salmon served under a glass cover filled with smoke! Third was a variety of meats, including smoked lamb riblet, small slice of very tender beef, great bitterballen, and garnishes and sauces. Last was dessert, a homemade mango pie and spicy pepper ice cream. The view of the harbor was great and the waitress was friendly and engaging. We had a really really nice meal and the price was quite reasonable. My wife had a carpaccio salad that was outstanding. We would go again!

Very disappointing. The food was ok; not great. More importantly, the starter was brought to us in short order, however, we waited for about 20 minutes or more for the main course. We opted to cancel the main course because of the wait. Rather than understanding our situation, the waiter became very defensive.

Excellent! My husband had the spring lamb special and I had the duck--both amazing. Service was excellent, too, attentive but not too attentive. Nice atmosphere.

We were lucky enough to spend a week in this beautiful city. Our meal on our last night was by far the best we had all week. Food was amazing, pleasant atmosphere, courteous staff. Would recommend to anyone visiting the city. Thank you!
