We had a great time dinning at this lovely restaurant with excellent service. The food tasted amazing, specially seeing we are vegetarians there was enough choice. Great place for date night in a very beautiful neighbourhood of Amsterdam. The waitress and chef where just lovely to share with us their passion for Ethiopian food and such a pleasure to experience the culture. It had been a surprise for me to have dinner at Ibis as I had dinner there with my family 20 years back. The next visit is already in the plans!

We often go to Etiopian restaurants, and this is on the top 2 or 3 of Amsterdam. Might even be the best one. Classic stews but with a twist in flavours, ingredients, and selection that we haven't seen anywhere else. Presentaton is very careful, aromas are balanced and taste-bud explosions are frequent! Keep up the good work.

From that little block of restaurants along the Amstel, Ibis had some of the friendliest wait staff I’ve experienced. Always smiling, always available and courteous. We sat on the terrace, which is undeniably a great place to be on a sunny warm evening. The interior looked quite dark in terms of lighting and colors, although I think most of the African style restaurants I’ve visited have been dark as well. Anyway, it was all very clean and comfortable looking. The food was priced right. A mixed special is only 15 euro and is massive. And it was good. I ate until I really could not stuff another bite down. However, I wouldn’t say it was the best Ethiopian food I’ve had in Amsterdam. I think some of the dishes could have used more of a kick in spices. In terms of variety, it’d be nice to see a fish dish featured on the special as well. The pineapple ice cream is sooooo good. If I’m in the mood for Ethiopian and sitting in the sun, then I’d definitely head back. Otherwise, on a cooler day I might be more tempted to go elsewhere, indoors.
