There are many many reviews left for restaurants and it just depends on your own expections and likes and dilikes. I read 20 reviews before I confirmed my booking and dome some very good, some not so good, it's to easy to generalize. We had a great meal with lovely wine and excellent service. We are from Dublin, Ireland.
Warm, charming setting and not noisy. . Great oysters, delicious sole. Lamb chops were very disappointing. Small, grizzly with little meat. Service was good initially but tapered off as the evening progressed.
We had heard about the wonderful food and service at the Rincón de Esteban and were not disappointed. The seafood paella was delicious as was the Eggplant appetizer. A must try!! Our server was very friendly and offered us complimentary after dinner digestifs and truffles. We would definitely recommend dining at El Rincón de Esteban!!
We enjoyed our meal. The mixed reviews concerned at first... but we found everything welcoming and the menu satisfactory... our food quite good. Restaurant was very busy .,. And some service was a bit rushed .... but we did get a nice dinner and enjoyed the many languages of the diverse crowd
Nice location and warm welcome but this is one of those dated places that has probably served the same food for 20years. Brown decor and lots of photos of proprietor on wall. Food was well cooked but unimaginative and the squid dish just a huge plate of over sweetened squid rings. Steak was decent, grilled lamb nice and crispy and the “free” aperitifs and amuse bouche were a nice touch. Some inappropriate chat about “finding me a nice 28 year old” for pudding really finished things off however. Probably a thousand more chic and current places to eat nearby.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here...all the little extra touches of professional service! 3 of us had the roast suckling pig and 1 had the steak tartare. All were excellent!
Good food in a authentic Spanish atmosphere
Wonderful service by Esteban himself. It’s like eating as an invited guest at his home. Fun loud atmosphere. And amazing service by all. A small place but not at all rushed through our meal. Very nice wine list too. I would go back again tonight. Goat cheese salad was fantastic.
Beautiful restaurant, amazing food, service and great value! Highly recommend to anyone willing to try traditional Spanish cuisine! We had a mixed Paella, Gazpacho and mussels! Everything tasted great.
Aquilino was our waiter. He was engaging and efficient. The food was well executed and unpretentious.
Excellent food! Atmosphere! Service! 2nd time there and will definitely come back again!
Great staff and excellent personalized service. Several surprise extras. Great wine list. Food was great!
The best restaurant!!!
Good Spanish food and extraordinary personal service. The “arroz negro” was great as the rest of the food
Nice food and super nice staff
Excellent food and service
I was there with a group for lunch and had their paella. Excellent! We enjoyed it so much we were back the following evening for dinner. Great food, staff and service.
Tres Excelencias: Lugar, Servicio y Alimentos
El Rincón de Esteban is a gem in the center of Madrid. Food was fantastic, the service super and the ambiance welcoming. This was my second time at this restaurant and it was as good as 15 years ago.
