Este restaurante con más de tres décadas de vida es un clásico barcelonés en el que nunca sabemos qué vamos a encontrarnos. Porque aquí se trabaja sin carta, siguiendo los designios del mercado –y sobre todo de la vecina lonja de la Barceloneta–, que puede depararnos desde unos callos sensacionales a un suquet de pescado o una espalda de cabrito al horno. Aquí mandan las delicatessen sin pretensiones, los mejores mariscos, el más sabroso de los ibéricos, los pescados más frescos y las carnes más melosas. Es uno de los grandes paraísos de la buena mesa en la ciudad, donde los postres están siempre a la altura de semejante despliegue gastronómico. Buen ejemplo de ello es un tiramisú sensacional, o uno de sus must: la crema catalana con fresones.
El Passadís del Pep es, además, uno de esos espacios con solera que mantiene sus elementos originales, desde unos flamantes arcos empedrados a las vigas a la vista, los salones privados para grupos, los cuadros en las paredes… Un ambiente que nos recuerda a la Barcelona de antaño, y que cuenta con una de las grandes bodegas de la ciudad. ¿Reunión familiar a lo grande y te toca buscar local? No lo dudes.
This place is just awesome, the service is perfect, the waiters are nice and helpful, the food quality is superb and something that is very important for us is that they serve it in a very timely manner, you never wait more than 3 or 4 minutes after finishing a dish before getting the next one. The wine selection is huge. What else can you ask for? Ah.... yes, the desserts are also something out of this world!

Went there with expectations but ended up disappointed about what I m getting for the money...also the place is exceptionally hard to find especially for tourists...and I can’t believe there is no menu or price list for resto of this cablibre...the waiter tried to push us to go with his suggested menu, without even asking what we like or dislike, or if we have allergies for certain seafood...the entire ordering process wasn’t very 21st century to me Overall I suggest a no go for this place given the abdudance of choices nearby and within Barcelona :(
The best food I have eaten for some years! Service was very good and mood is nice and local
We had the best dinner experience in the last few months. We asked for a quiet table for 2 and we got it, which was great because later that night we realised that the restaurant got quite noisy. We loved the system of the restaurant: they serve 6 or 7 dishes of their choice, mostly fish and seafood, depending on the market. Afterwards, if you’re still hungry (which we were’nt) you can choose a main dish (or more). Let’s start: they offered half a bottle of cava with a small tapa before dinner. The first dish was the renowned and tasty Joselito iberian ham. Then we got 4 huge and delicious razor clams. Then we tasted the superb “raor” or razorfish, a rare and delicious fish that you can only find in the small Balearic Islands. After that they brought some “rossinyols” chanterelles mushrooms in a delicious sauce and small green peppers aside. The 5th dish were langoustines and the last one were prawns, all of the the freshest and formidably cooked. As I said we were full after that, but we had some dessert, crema catalana and a chocolate coulant. They have a large selection of wines to combine all the food. The service was very good, a bit to fast perhaps, but we were also eating fast. The price was correct for the quality of the product. Totally recommendable!!

The difficulty starts with the fact there is no menu. Yes, you are asked about preferences but it is almost impossible to know all of the nuance of a dish to let them know what makes an enjoyable meal. I am not unaccustomed to challenging dishes and really appreciate gentle handeling of ingredients but the prawns were raw making them unappetizing. If the prawn is not deveined and then not cooked it is quite unappreciated by most diners. They could have been sent back but one dish was already sent back so half of a course was just wasted. There was a lack of vegetables. For the cost it was pretty lacking.
This was our second time dining at El Passadis del Pep. My husband and I had the luncheon fixed menu and came away agreeing that this is probably the best seafood restaurant Barcelona. Diners do not have a choice of items, but are asked if there are any allergies or antipathies before service begins. Portions are small, but numerous enough to make a fully satisfying lunch. Serving commences with a glass of cava and several bouches, followed by multiple, interesting seafood courses. I our case, this included roasted razor clams and baby red snapper. All of the seafood was very fresh and simply and deliciously prepared. The service is efficient and pleasant, if somewhat brusque. This quality does not come cheaply: Plan on about 100 euros per person with wine.

I was expecting more from this restaurant , even though the global quality y good. If I should qualify it I would define as a superior "bar de tapas ".
My wife & I were there in 2012 based on a recommendation from a friend. At that time our cab driver could not find the restaurant so we got out and walked 30 mins to find it. It is difficult to find since there is NO signage and the front door is down an alley which looks more like a subway station connection. This time we found the restaurant but I still had to search for it. I planned this with German friends a few months ago. We all had a great time and my guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I only wish we did not live so far - Portland, Oregon. You have a great establishment. Thank you
