En la Cava Baja, una de las arterias que desembocan en La Latina, quedan templos de la cocina como éste, el mejor junto a Lucio. El local conjuga la elegancia de un comedor clásico con el descubrimiento de paredes de ladrillo visto, que le dan un toque contemporáneo. A los mandos de la cocina, Mikel Gorrotxategi, que oficia como encargado de la parrilla, auténtica razón de ser del local. De ella salen, cómo no, uno de los mejores chuletones del mundo, según la revista Forbes. Se acompaña de pimientos del Piquillo y llega en su punto idóneo para disfrutar de la calidad de la carne. Pero la labor de la parrilla no se queda ahí, sino que también trabaja para lograr un espectacular rape. Otros platos esenciales son las alubias rojas, sabrosísimas, o los espárragos especiales de la casa, que llegan a la mesa muy tiernos. La carta, corta, se completa con una casi igual de extensa de postres. Pedir tejas y cigarrillos para acompañar el café es lo suyo, aunque la tarta de crema pastelera es para perder el sentido.

    literally travelled here 2hr flight to try the steaks and it did not disappoint. the original restaurant in san sebastian which i haven't tried is classed by some of the world's top food critics and chefs as the best steaks in the world, and this for me was pretty much the same. one of if not the best steak i've eaten. next stop san sebastian...

    They've been making the same dishes for over 30 years, so they really know what they're doing. The atmosphere was perfect, and the food delicious. Highly recommended.

    It must be a European thing, but the steak is priced per kg and no other details are provided (cut, amount, cook, etc.) It cannot be stressed enough, but this is not a steakhouse for American steak eaters. The steak is about 2 inches thick, though cooked decently. The seasoning was non existent. In addition, 40-50% of the steak was full of sinew and inedible. Finally, one order is enough for two though it is brought to the table it batches. In regards to the restaurant itself, they bring bread and oil and small chorizos, at no request, and then subequently charge you for it at the end. I don't mind the bill, but the ambiguity of the entire experience is enough not to recommend this place to anyone.

    Chose the entrecote and red peppers. Fantastic steak. Great service and would love to go again. Ps: It could be useful to know some spanish, but no problem ordering in english.
