    On a cold wet night the warmth of the welcome was very special. Whilst our hosts English was excellent we wanted to test our French and she was patient and informative. The ambiance combined modern with traditional and there was a clear pride in both the quality and the sourcing of the food. The ‘Pots’ of wine were excellent if you don’t want a full bottle. We had the ravioli and pate to start and immediately knew this was going to be a special meal. The seafood risotto and veal main course would have competed with any top London restaurant. An absolutely wonderful evening. Nous serons de retour!

    That was heavenly delicious !!!!! We enjoyed one of the tastiest dinners we ever had. The atmosphere is jazzy and soft... I recommend this restaurant wit big thumbs up for everything!

    A delightful meal! Sunday evening in Lyon in August is a hard time to find a good restaurant. I was particularly pleased to have dishes that were not the typically heavy Lyonnaise dishes. We were all impressed with the freshness of the ingredients and the beautiful presentations. The restaurant was bright and minimalist; a nice change. The waitress was welcoming, efficient and very helpful (wait to see if you really do want the dessert she said when she took our orders and she was right. We were too full for dessert except to share a plate of cheeses.) The only fault is the lack of fans or air conditioning. But we were all very happy to have found Carre Royal. It is well worth a second visit.

    Fantastic food - great quality and interesting presentation. The menu offers limited choice but is really good value. The veal main course was particularly good, but we loved all three courses and the service was very friendly.

    Excellent, creative food but not too fussy. Warm and friendly service. Impressive wine list and Darcy, one of the owners, really knows her wines and how to describe them to help you make a choice. Highly recommend this restaurant.

    Delicious 3 course dinner at a reasonable price with a great wine selection to choose from. Out of the touristy areas with the owners running the place. Try their seafood risotto and you will not regret it. Highly recommended.

    Warm food was cooled to room temperature. Egg starter and veal plat were tasteless, potatoes with veal plat were mushy like baby food. My wife’s pork plat was good.

    We had a lovely meal! Excellent food and every plate we had for the six of us went back empty. Loved it and our waitress was excellent helping us in English Restaurant got busy later in evening. Try it it’s excellent
