Traditional Lyonnais food which tends to be copious and heavier than most French or international food. If you are prepared to experiment it is a rewarding experience. I had fois gras followed by pike quenelle which I reckon was a kind of fish pasty in a rich seafood sauce. Good but very filling. Had no room for a normal dessert so chose lemon sorbet in vodka. There was a lot of vodka. Two of us ate for 90 euros. A warm welcome, good value and an interesting change
Très bon restaurant
Bon restaurant, cuisine correct
I enjoyed my fish souffle. The goat cheese appetizer was delicious as well. I like the blend of the natural flavors.
Très bon. Service impeccable.
Terrible service. Rude, inattentive, ugly. Put us in a back corner; refused us front ANY tables that had some outside air. Very hot; no AC. Never offered water or bread to us; others tables received. Took forever to get food; claimed a problem in the kitchen. And finally, refused the Fork discount. Claimed we didn't order the right combination "plat and dessert" even though my booking CLEARLY said "30% of a la cart". Even after showing this to the very rude bar manager, he refused. Said we could order more food to get the discount (we each had a $20 entree and beer/wine). We had had all the heat and rudeness we could stand!
This was the only restaurant we had dinner at in Lyon and unfortunately we did not get to experience the Lyonnaise cuisine at its best. The first course (the egg) was good but the main course, the beef, was blend and rather tasteless. The side potatoes were okay, nothing more. My partner had a fish course and thought the fish itself was good and refreshing, although his side dish of rice was blend. The dessert (Tiramisu) was nice but was taken straight out of the fridge and served to us - which is okay, but not worth the amount of money. It was an okay meal but not worth the price (around 60 euros).
Very well located.Nice ambiance and good food. Good relationship price-quality
Enjoyable lunch at this small restaurant with seating inside and out in Lyon's Old Town. A good variety of local dishes that all tasted excellent. The manager's recommendations on the wines were excellent, and the meal was good value. Service was on the slow-side of relaxed, and while our table wasn't ready at the time we booked it for, we were offered the option of an alternate table outside instead of waiting. Over all I would recommend Bistrot Gustave for couples or groups of friends who want good local food, and aren't in a rush.
This place is great. At first sight the menu seams classic and boring, however once you get the dish you will be positively surprised on the quality and the design of the dish. Food is very tasty and did not take long. Service was friendly and helpful !
A delightful small bistro on "restaurant row". Good food and friendly efficient service. Fabulous atmosphere. In a street of restaurants it is well worth searching Bistrot Gustave out.
Expensive for what it is. Nice people though. I think Lyon is expensive in general, so perhaps this is an average price. I like the place, put its on a strip of restaurants and I reckon they're all of a decent standard.
