The selection platters are very interesting and innovative, however, instead of mixing different ingredients they focus on one food group (example: salmon or cured beef) which becomes a bit repetitive. The wine by the glass portion was very small. The ravioli alla ricotta which I ordered was also very bland.
Great food with a lovely idea of thematic plates, impressive wine list.
Perfect food. Excellent service
Lovely food, great flavours. The head chef came out and explained the menu in detail and was very tentative. Would highly recommend this little gem
Miserable, rainy Monday evening in the middle of November so would be a shame to mark down regards atmosphere as not really their fault. Food was very interesting. Particularly loved the vegetable garden platter selection and the truffle ravioli with ragout. Recommended. Bit pricey but excellent value with the Fork discount.
excellent restaurant. excellent service. The chief explained all courses. this place is a must
Wonderful food and lovely service by the owner, who was knowledgable and welcoming (and also spoke English fluently). All of the dishes were generous, interesting and of great quality, especially the raw fish appetizers and spinach salad. Do yourself a favor and pick a dish that comes with the amazing mustard/truffle sauce. We will definitely come back when in Rome.
Barbieri 23 is an interesting restaurant and not like one you are likely to find elsewhere in Rome or anywhere else in Italy, possibly. The food is imaginative and really good. The service was attentive and helpful. English is spoken readily, which might be my only complaint -- I love speaking Italian. On the other hand, the menu is different enough that it was helpful having it explained in my native tongue. In addition to all this, the prices are extremely reasonable. Prepare to be thrilled! Our only regret is that we couldn't order more of the interesting things that were available, because we were full!
food is very good. the service is excellent. Maybe the best experience I got in these days in Rome.
We have now been to this restaurant three times and it keeps getting amazing us. George (the owner and chef) is terrific and wonderful at explaining the dishes and what wine to select. We are somewhat foodies and ask lots of questions and he is very patient with us. The tuna dis was excellent as was the lasagne and lamb. We also had two of the “starters” which were excellent. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
An absolutely wonderful meal! My husband and I had two of the cicchetti . The first were anchovy’s (three different kinds) - one on toast with butter, the second over panzarella and the third mixed with stracciatell. The second dish was the variety of vegetables mixed with olive oil. Both dishes were perfect and enough food with our excellent wine.
Outstanding experience in every level. Personalized service by chef/owner. Tremendous wine list. Each dish made with meticulous attention to detail.
We loved the selection plate of raw fishes! Great approach to combine different tastes. The minimalistic interior, service and the overall atmosphere was great too! We were not that excited about deserts though (tried the chocolate cake and ricotta cake with cherries), they were ok. Overall would recommend for a stylish dinning experience!
It was a nice diner!
Really really nice. The raw salmon was awesome! I would come back again definetly, they have a very original type of menu that makes you travel all over the world!
A delightful dining experience from the second we walked in the door. The various menu allowed us to pick several dishes to try out. The chef gave us personal presentations of the dishes, recommended suiting wine for the food, and even let us stay past closing time to enjoy dessert. Small and personal resturant that is absolutely worth a visit. Without a doubt the best food we've had during our trip to Rome. Excellent.
My expectations were met and then some. The service, ambiance, and most importantly the food were excellent. I couldn’t have asked for more. The wine pairing alongside the creative courses were exceptional. Giorgio was our host and chef and we had a memorable dining experience. If you are looking for something different from the standard Roman fare I highly recommend Giorgio’s place. Not only is the food delicious, it is all natural. I look forward to returning during my extended stay in Rome.
We had high expectations and they were exceeded. An excellent value as well.
