Friendly , somewhat slapdash service in a slightly shabby upstairs room , difficult to access. Ground floor room taken over by a tour group. No French couples in sight, no surprise, because the food is profoundly mediocre. Cannot recommend.

On the Left Bank a couple of blocks from the Luxembourg Metro, on Rue M. le Prince, Pere Louis occupies a warren of rooms in an old building. The service is informed and good-natured but sometimes a little slow, probably because on a busy night the place appears somewhat short-staffed — not a problem if you want to make an evening of it, as we did. Bistro-style food; I had a superb and generous cassoulet. My wife liked her escargots appetizer but found her duck breast overcooked. Wine list has interesting selections, not extensive but something for most tastes and fairly priced.

Great place in a fantastic location. Had the onion soup to start and the tartare main. Very good food, possibly even the best tartare I have had in Paris. Highly recommended.

The food was quite good, but the onion soup was exceptionally good. I always order onion soup when it is available and the onion soup at Au Pere Louis was easily the best I have had while vacationing in France this trip

We chose this restaurant because they were open on Sunday night, had a broad selection of French classics and were close to our apartment. Our service was shared by one really helpful and fun waitress and one who wasn’t. There were three of us and all of our meals were mediocre. Two of us ordered specials and they were anything but. Lastly, the value was the worst of all our meals in Paris.

Visited Paris from New York. Felt like an authentic french dining experience. Probably my favorite meal of the week. Not expensive and great wait staff and amazing menu. Get the french onion soup!

Weird service from the staff. One service was very friendly, but the rest was pretty rude. Never got served our second bottle of wine, and when we asked them to take it off the bill, they just added another one. I felt like that was on purpose, as a kind of middle finger to us. Wouldn't recommend.

The atmosphere, food, and service were all great. It was close to our hotel so it was an extra bonus. The duck was delicious, the skin nice and crispy. The waiters were friendly, attentive and kind. Thank you for a great dinner and night, myself and my parents enjoyed everything.

We found this restaurant last year, and when visiting Paris again, we had to go back. Simply, good food, good wine, great atmosphere and staff. Our French is not great but staff made us comfortable. This has a feel of a very good local restaurant and not a tourist spot, but with great food, wine and staff it is still casual and relaxed... Can't wait for next year.

It was a Sunday night so can't expect the mood to be as good as usual, however it is a fantastic restaurant with good staff and priced well for the quality.

I had the set lunch. Food is great and good portion. Just that it took a while to come. Also, there was only 1 selection for the set lunch. Would be great if there are more selection.

Having visited this restaurant before and had a wonderful meal I was very disappointed with my recent experience. Such a shame as the food could have been so much better and the service friendlier
