What a treat, a block or two off the tourist trail! Cozy, like dining in someone’s home. Pilar is the chef, and Isabelle served us. Just celebrated their 24th anniversary in business, so they’re doing it right. Highly recommended as a uniquely Spanish experience.
This is a very small restaurant run by Isabel and Pinar from their home, where the quality of both the food and the wine is excellent. Isabel was welcoming and informative and Pinar’s cooking is superb. We especially enjoyed the pate, the duck confit salad and both fish dishes that we had. The crunchy chocolate and raspberry cake was amazing too. Do try to visit Algarabia when in Madrid.
Two sisters own and run the restaurant by themselves. The dining area feels like visiting at a friend or family's house in the best possible way. The service was efficient and the food was amazing. I can't wait to go back.
This was our best meal of the trip! A hidden gem with a welcoming atmosphere and delicious food. Isabela and Pilar were outstanding. We will be back!
I could not expect nothing better! The small restaurant with very few tables, offers a great selection of Rioja’s dishes, directly made by the chef Pilar in the kitchen; you can seriously hear her while mixing the ingredients for your meal! Her sister Isabel welcomes you in the restaurant with her big smile and typical Spanish vibe. Great dinner, great food, great location and great atmosphere! If you’re in Madrid, you MUST visit this restaurant!
This was easily one of the best dining experiences my husband and I ever had. Two sisters run this restaurant. One sister welcomes you with the warmth of an old friend while the other creates delicious masterpieces in the kitchen. I cannot recommend this place enough. It has very few tables, but if you're lucky enough to get reservation you will not be disappointed.
Lovely meal in a delightful restaurant presented by two people who care passionately about food and the dining experience. Highly recommended.
This is like dining in the home of friends. Isabel (front of house) and Pilar (chef) are the most welcoming of hostesses. The duck confit with leeks is excellent; the special of chilled roasted beef was the perfect summer supper; the braised pork with confitted onions so lovely; they even did a special dish for a vegetarian friend. Go and enjoy
This is a restaurant known for a warm and welcoming setting and once again Isabel and PIlar were the perfect hosts. One cannot help but be taken with their passion for ensuring a great evening for their guests. Recommended dishes include the leeks vinaigrette with duck confit; the pork tenderloin with caramelized onions; the bourage with shrimp; and the special entree of the evening, a cool veal roast with mustard and arugula. Go, relax and enjoy!
Excellent service, exquisite food from La Rioja and great location, one of the best meals I’ve had in years. Also great chat with Isabel and Pilar they are really fun and welcoming. Will come back for sure!
Our favorite restaurant in Madrid. Excellent Galician food paired with great service and warm hospitality. Highly recommended.
Great food and service in a charming venue, centrally located. Highly recommend!
Excellent food and ambience. Very friendly and welcoming hosts. Delicious croquettes. I had the pork with caramelised onion and my husband had the baked hake both of which were excellent.
Wine and food are good ~ Definitely will come again
We really enjoyed our evening. The sisters, as well as being charming hosts, were such good fun and to cap it all we had a beautiful meal. Would thoroughly recommend a visit.
We really enjoyed our evening at the Algarabía - nice atmosphere, great service and wonderful food. It’s a special place. We would definitely go back.
Serviti e riveriti per tutta la cena. Simpaticissime le due sorelle
Lovely host, great atmosphere, but we were very disappointed with the food.

C/ Unión, 8, 28013, Madrid, Spain
"This small and cozy restaurant is located right on Union Street, in the center of Madrid's capital. In its clear and intimate space, you can devote yourself to a relaxed and comfortable stay.
Its kitchen offers you succulent Rioja specialties prepared with loving care and craftsmanship, and under a rigorous selection of fresh and seasonal ingredients. All of this results in generous dishes such as the Rioja-style cod and chumarro with onion comfit.
An ideal place with a romantic touch where to taste the magnificent flavors of Riojan cuisine and with a close-at-hand and unbeatable service."
