Fine dining in an awesome setting. A tasting selection of starters were offered to the table that were a perfect beginning to an unforgettable dinner. Each person selected an entré including lamb leg, scallops and risotto snd John Dory fish with another amazing selection of 5-6 sides. Dessert included crieme brûlée and an almond berry and créeme delight. Outstanding dinner. Not to be missed!!

This restaurant is beautiful with arched old brick ceiling and a view of the cloister of the old convent. Service impeccable and the food superb. I would definitely come back again!

Restaurant was tucked away in a residential side street, but on entering opens up into a spectacular courtyard, staff very welcoming and friendly and food excellent. There is a flow of starters which come a little quickly at times, but the pork starter in particular was beautiful

Staff were really friendly and welcoming, clearly explaining how the menu worked and suggesting reasonably priced wines to go with our choices. Food was fantastic and starter system was great, wide range of dishes which all tasted fantastic.

We loved our night at A Travessa! We rated it the top meal of our 7 day trip to Portugal. If you prefer a quiet atmosphere, request to be seated inside!

Service was most professional. The format is a conveyor belt with all having the same about 9 very small appetisers brought to the table, very tasty. During this time, our main course was selected from a menu of 6 fish, 6 meat dishes. I selected baby lamb shank which was good but no finesse, 3 small bowls of vegetables. It was noisy because in the courtyard, the restaurant being on one side, a band was playing, something to do with a museum, with strobe lighting, glad I don’t suffer from migraine. Overall, an experience, pleased we went but we wouldn’t return.

Appetizers were served too fast. Didn’t appreciate the man different waiters who seemed not to be too enthusiastic about 5heir job and really knowledgeable to make recommendations. Owner took the order of the mains but could have been more enthusiastic. Staff just didn’t match the status the restaurant tries to be. Finished dinner with an ice cold tawny port and after complaining just got a reply from the waiter that he’s not into ports. Could do better. Especially in this price range.

Lovely setting in a converted old monastery, great service, and good food but lots of it, mainly as the starters went on for ever. A great experience

There's no choice of starters but they were varied and numerous so it was fun trying new tastes. I had the cod main dish which was beautifully cooked and my husband chose sole meuniere which was equally well prepared. We enjoyed the selection of cheeses between us: a great end to a very good meal in beautiful and unusual surroundings.

Cod portion really disappointing. All the starters seemed premade at least hours before (our reservation was for 19.30!) Over estimated restaurant. We paid too much for the environment !!!!

Fantastic place with incredible food in a very lovely and unique setting. They do automatically give you (and charge you for) the starters course as part of how the menu works, but it’s one that we would have chosen anyway! Both lamb main courses were phenomenal.

Travessa do Convento das Bernardas 12, 1200-109, Lisbon, Portugal

About the restaurant
