Staff was amazing and the food was exquisite! Best clams we have ever had and the Sangria was exceptional! We would absolutely go back when in Barcelona!
This restaurant is steeped in history since it is almost 200 years old. We arrived 30 minutes early but did not have to wait to get a table. There was ample choices on the menu suitable for many sorts of palates. The quality of the dishes was very good and the portions were reasonable. My wife had the flat bread and cannelloni while I had the seafood platter and seafood/meat paella. For dessert we shared a fig biscuit which was delicious. After enjoying all the food and several glasses of wine, the bill was easy to digest also.
When we were first welcomed to the restaurant we were shown a table right beside the door to the kitchen so asked to move where we were directed to an even worse table. After waiting about 10 minutes for someone to come by we did request another table in the main area which was nice but again about 15 minutes before a server came by. Eventually got served and food was good but not spectacular as paella was very salty. I also ended up with bad case of the runs later that night - coincidence? Would not go out of our way to ever go back to 7 Portes.
Ottimo come sempre
Excellent restaurant.A recommander
This was recommended to us by our hotel as the best seafood in Barcelona. The pricing was avg / high, and the food was a decent portion size for the price (given the reputation and price rating), but it did not deliver. Our food was luke warm (not hot) and the serving staff seemed rushed with us, spilling wine as they poured it into our glass to move on to another table. We often travel in search of good food - all over the world. We are in our mid thirties, but to some look younger. I’m not sure if they figured us as young Americans that weren’t looking for a great meal? It somewhat felt that way.
Excellent food, efficient service,good ambience
We had 9pm reservations, but still had to queue for 30 minutes outside, while tour groups were ushered inside. Ordering of drinks and salads took over 30 minutes. We live in Barcelona, and took out-of-town family here for Barcelona's "best rices." We've had better on menu del dia in Barceloneta. Very expensive disappointment- it's a local institution, but more of a tourist trap as well.
Historical restaurant in Barcelona, classical, good quality food. Traditional but friendly service.
Our meal at 7 Portes was wonderful. I had the cod with garlic mousse, my son had the octopus on sweet potato which was a special and my husband had the chicken in a mushroom sauce. Everything was cooked to perfection and the staff couldn't have been more attentive. The setting is beautiful and the interior of the restaurant is elegant. We will definitely be back.
Good place overall. We tried the paella. The food was good, but not spectacular. I had higher expectations given it is a classic restaurant in Barcelona.
Food excellent, service very slow!
This was a great restaurant that was recommended to us. We arrived early and they were somewhat welcoming. The food was really good. Service was good enough but a little slow. Maybe that’s the way it is in Spain. We are American.
bono ma niente de che
The food was so good, your restaurant is a fantastic place to visit!
Terrible food terrible space terrible wait time terrible staff. Save your money and go somewhere else. I have yet to have food Witt less taste while in Barcelona. My dish came out 10 minutes before my wife...
Everything was amazing. The paella, however, was so over salted that it was barely edible. My mom and aunt ate all the seafood, but left the rice behind. A shame, really, since that's what they're famous for. The caneloni that I had, was the best I've EVER had. It was outstanding!!! Service slow but very professional. Our server was lovely
While the food was above average, the service was terrible from the get go. Waited 50 minutes after we finished our mains for a member of staff to clear our table/offer dessert and that is only because we asked for the bill. Waiter did not pour our wine which is fine but when they are pouring the wine of rich businessmen dining at the same time as us which is insulting. Tables that were seated 30 minutes after us were seen to quicker than us. Would not go back. Worst service I have received in a long time.
