There simply isn't a better place for Paella in Barcelona. I have been coming to the city (first as a resident and now as as a visitor) for thirty years and throughout that time it has remained the same. Elegant, welcoming and fabulous value for money. It is a staple of Catalan life (used both for family celebrations and traditional Sunday lunch) and popular with tourists - but the main reason to come is that food is of the very highest quality and the setting relaxed but charmingly formal. I could not recommend it higher.
Agree with most of the comments here: Excellent Paella, good range of wines, a bit overpriced, too classy for the type of cuisine. Have just the Paella and a glass of wine!
Sempre un plaer menjar al 7 Portes
Great restaurant. Really like it but it took 15 min to get a drink before the meal
Atmosphere was stuffy. Server was amazing. Appetisers... Fois Gras and Clams were out of this world. The paella, which is their specialty, was flavorless, and oversalted. Cannelloni was bland, and over sauced. Overall, very disappointed.
Food was outstanding! Servers were amazing! We would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone! Best paeja we have ever had ! ..........
Pros: welcoming staff, menu available in multiple languages, live piano performance. Good sea snails and croquette. Cons: very over priced for both food and drinks. Paella was just okay (it was very salty and the seafood wasn't in great quality in the paella). Seafood sampler (small) had very average mussels and shrimp (not very fresh). Tapas samples were much smaller than expected and it just didn't taste very authentic. Overall the food quality was disappointing and a bit of a touristy trap.
Do yourself a favor and make a reservation prior to your visit! The food is amazing as the service is great. We ordered the iberico ham as a starter, cava sangria and the traditional paella with lobster. We have made this a must have on every trip to Barcelona. We did learn it's much easier to make a reservation rather than to just show up. Enjoy!
The beautiful smell of seafood as we entered, lovely old world service, great Paella and Catalan spinach, Sangria. Dessert not it's strength I think but OK. A great experience and one of the highlights of our trip
The waitress was terrible and didn’t even bother to ask how we wanted the steak. Had to remind her twice for the wine and ketchup . Paella was a bit salty.
We come to Barcelona twice a year and this used to be our favorite restaurant in the world every time we order the Mariscos dish with lobster for 2 and lobster was not very fresh as we have used to and the oyster juice was spit in the dish. Paella and wine was amazing. Great service and welcome. Upon arrival waited on the queue to be seated as saying I have reservation and I was not asked for my name probably because on spot I requested table outside.
The best restaurant that I had dinner on my trip to Barcelona. The food was perfect, I ordered starters, paella and sangria cava. The paella was incredible, really really good. Also, I can say the service was good, the waiters are friendly and know how to talk with the costumer. 5 stars for the restaurant.
The paella was just so so.
Restaurant divided into several rooms. I made reservation, but we were seated in the back room (less desirable) noticed mostly English speaking patrons in this room. Receptionist, maitre d’, wait staff not very welcoming or attentive. Very disappointed in our meal.
Fabulous food and vibrant atmosphere, full of charm. Service was excellent (although servers might want to smile a little more often!). Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and would definitely come again.
Excellent Food and Service! the Menu was what I was expecting, very spanish food! fair price too! and the restaurant itself is very nice and comfortable with family tradition!
Earnest but rookie server assigned to our table, food was way too salty, but otherwise good. The restaurant unfortunately didn't live up to my high expectations, but not an awful restaurant.
